Below, you will find comprehensive answers for the questions concerning our products and materials – mainly architectural concrete, but also stainless steel and structural steel, metals such as brass and copper, and Conalgy – our polymer and mineral composite. Should you have any doubts, ask your own questions and we will answer as soon as possible.
No, Steinhorn Panels must not be pasted directly to the finishing wall layers such as parget or setting coat etc. They can be only pasted to raw walls made of concrete and earthenware on the condition that they are strong and non-dusting. Otherwise, it is necessary to mount OSB or chipboard according to the technical data sheet.
According to our Technical Data sheet it should be 12mm thick.
OSB board should be mounted mechanically with the use of rawlplugs after evening the wall or using expanding foam under OSB board.
According to Technical Data Sheet, Steinhorn Panels are most often pasted to OSB board. The rules of installing are the same as in case of other large format ceramic or gres panels except for the glue which must not contain water. To install our panels we recommend using polymer glue Steinhorn Tackline the usage of which is very easy in view of short fixture time (ca 30 minutes) which enables installation of panels on the whole wall in just one day.
Absolutely not! Glue which contains water causes dampness of the glued side and consequently tautness, which causes panel bending yet before the glue obtains final sustainability (it is similar to what happens to wooden planks).
In order to install Steinhorn Panels only glue which does not contain water can be used. We recommend polymer glue Steinhorn Tackline which has been tested and we can vouch for it. In the market there can be found many other similar products however they have not been tested by our experts.
Steinhorn Panels as well as the base surface must not be primed. The only thing that has to be done is to remove from the base surface all loose particles and dust it.
If Steinhorn Panels are not going to be exposed to any dirt, impregnation is not necessary however recommended.
Impregnation of Steinhorn Panels should be done right after installation.
Any dirt from the surface of Steinhorn panels should be dry cleaned – with the use of a cloth or brush. If it does not work, something more concrete is necessary, namely medium gradation abrasive nonwoven dedicated for rocks.
Steinhorn Panels can be installed in the bathroom, however we do not recommend to install them in any places where they are going to be constantly in touch with water or detergent due to some difficulties in keepin their aesthetic appearance.
Impregnation of Steinhorn Panels should be repeated when we notice that the repellent does not work properly however not later than every 4 years.
The minimal space should be between Steinhorn Panels should be 3mm, it enables compensation of length changes which is caused by temperature and humidity.
If we don’t want OSB board to show through it is enough to paint it with any dark paint.
Yes, Steinhorn Panels are also dedicated for exterior. It is necessary then to remember not to use OSB boards therefore acceptable base surface is clean concrete wall, ceramic or metal construction of elevation ventilation system. It is also recommended to impregnate the facing surface with deeply penetrating hydrophobic sealer.
No, Steinhorn Panels cannot be installed on the floor. Steinhorn Flexile panels are dedicate for floor.
We offer 10 and 18mm thick panels.
Steinhorn Panels should be cut or drilled with the use of appropriate tools without surge, supporting the whole surface of the panels from below. Panels should be cut dry with thin diamond glazer and angle grinder or other electrical appliance appropriate to work with diamond glazers. Cut edges can be smoothed with sandpaper (gradation from 40 to 120).

Our company as a manufacturer does not offer such service, however it is still possible to order this service via showroom or an executive company.
The difference is mainly visual which sometimes can encourage the designer to use thick panels. Thin panels have much more advantages than thick panels – first of all they are lighter and therefore easier to be shipped and installed. Thanks to the special recipe used to produce thin panels concrete can be easily worked with (cutting, sanding).
Yes, it is possible to drill in the panels. Diamonds dry tools should be used to do this, it is also necessary to make sure that the whole surface of the panels is supported from below.
In order to stabilize color and humidity of the panels, after unpacked they should be kept for at least 48h in the room where they are going to be installed in conditions (humidity, temperature) which will be normally in this place.
In our offer every standard dimension of the panels is available in version with holes in the corners to install them with the use of screws. Holes are designed in a way which enables covering them with our original plugs.

Definitely yes. We have special concrete used to produce kitchen and bathroom tabletops offered in our catalogue as Steinhorn Zenith. This concrete is also used to make tables and furniture as well as monolith bars and reception desks.
Concrete tabletops require special treatment so keep its appearance and the features of the sealer as long as possible. All conditions that should be obeyed can be found in in our instruction of maintenance.
Offered Steinhorn Zenith tops have been factory-impregnated. When treated in an appropriate way, the top can be used for many years without being re-impregnated.
Architectural concrete as well as any other material can be stained or crumbled especially when we do not treat it in an appropriate way. Repair of potential cracks and crumbles or other damages will be unfortunately visible and should be avoided treating the top according to the Instruction of usage and treatment.
Steinhorn Zenith countertops made from architectural concrete are waterproof thanks to impregnation.
Yes, Steinhorn Zenith countertops are sealed with appropriate sealers and therefore they are resistant to stains caused by various ingredients used in the kitchen on the condition that they are treated in an appropriate way (conditions are described in the instruction of maintenance and treatment)
The easiest way is when we have a project which contains all necessary details to produce the top (dimensions and the shape of the hole for the sink, dimension and layout of holes for battery and so on). However if the customer does not have such a project it is possible for us to prepare it just after we get all necessary information.
Average thickness of the countertop is 25-30mm however if some specific conditions are met it is possible to obtain 10mm thin countertop. What is more the edges of the countertop can be made thinner or thicker.
